3/1/2023 0 Comments Hype house merch![]() I haven’t fully processed all of my feelings towards this book because it hits at major themes including war, cultural differences, coming of age, LGBT romance, and family and that’s a huge combo. The plot was not always linear, there were folk tales and Biblical lore surrounding the plot, but the story always moved forward. I loved the variations of storytelling this book followed. Read a Book Set in Africa, by an Author from Africa: This book really took me from appreciating graphic novels to really connecting with them as a storytelling device. This wasn’t the first graphic novel I read during the year and it wasn’t the last but it was definitely the most beautifully illustrated. The stories pray on our own insecurities and fears and still stick to popular legends and tales so while new, they seem familiar. There’s an image of a wall that should be simple but it says so much. The art in “A Lady’s Cold Hands” was so good at contrasting the claustrophobic feeling of parts of the plot with the vastness of the project that lays before the narrator. The book is just 5 short stories and each story has its own artistic style. Through the Woods fits the spirit of those stories but it’s paired with hauntingly beautiful art. Like most kids raised in the 90s, I had an obsession with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. It helped me feel some things I had tried to push aside and helped me acknowledge how messy death (and life) can be. I read this book after my grandmother died earlier this year. Some favorites: “The Gate”, “Practicing”, “Without Music”, and of course, “What the Living Do”. The poems are narrative but by the end go out on a hopeful note. There are four real parts: a broken childhood, the loss of a brother, the loss of a friend while coping, and the loss of a loved one in the midst of it all. ![]() I took time to savor some poems, reading them aloud.Įach poem is straightforward but not quite simple. The book stayed in my mind all night and day and when I sat down with it again, I read the entire thing. ![]() I read the first part, an introduction to the family and their dynamics, then put it aside and went to bed. I tried to sit with this book and slowly read it. Read a Contemporary Collection of Poetry: Combine those qualities with the plot and it’s a fantastic read from Octavia Butler. The people and their relationships with each other really showed you how loyalty, love, and trust can be tested. People can be ugly, they can be brave, they can sacrifice, and they can push on. ![]() This book has an incredible and gut wrenching plot but beyond that this is a book about people. I really wanted to know how it could meet all that criteria and honestly I was hooked from the very first sentence. I went into this book blind, knowing only that it was supposed to fulfill my feminist sci-fi book of the year, was highly rated, and written in the 1970s. Here’s my first update if you want to see books 1-5 in the challenge. As a reminder, this challenge is supposed to push my boundaries and help me find books outside my comfort zone that still appeal to me. I’m more than halfway done with my 2016 #BustleReads Challenge. However, the USAAC cut funding to the project, causing Boeing to fund the project privately. And that was even if the US had bases nearby!īecause of this, Boeing began to work on pressurized long range bomber derivatives of the B-17. Here, they’d be used by Pan Am as their large, long range airliners. After their first flight, the USAAC would continue to test the B-17 until it entered service in April 1938.įollowing the aircraft’s introduction into USAAC, Boeing developed the B-17 into a commercial airliner, which it called the Boeing 307 Stratoliner. ![]() The B-17 Super Fortress as it would later be known, would first fly in late July 1935. Here, the Y1B-17 would be tested by the USAAC, who would determine that it did in fact need the Y1B-17 to enter USAAC service as a heavy bomber. ![]() However, impressed by the YB-17’s performance, the USAAC ordered 13 more YB-17 for them to evaluate further.Īfter receiving them, the USAAC redesignated the YB-17 as the Y1B-17. Ultimately, Douglas’ design was chosen by the USAAC to fulfill their requirements. Douglas’ design was designated as the YB-18, whilst the Boeing design was designated as the YB-17. As such, it began to look for a replacement.īoth Douglas and Boeing produced prototypes for the USAAC. Here, it found that their Martin B-10 bomber was incapable or reinforcing its fleets in Hawaii, Alaska and Panama. In 1934, the US Army Air Corps began re-evaluating much of its fleet. Not just the why, but also what purpose they were initially intended to serve. Boeing B-17 vs B-29: The Basicsīefore we can compare both the B-17 Flying Fortress and the B-29 Superfortress, we first need to know some background on both bombers. Fighter bombers looked like fighters but carried bombs, whilst heavy bombers are much larger. They also differed from fighter bombers (such as the P-47 Thunderbolt, Fw 190, P-38 Lightning etc.) in the sense of their design. Typically, light bombers would only carry less than one ton of bombs. Heavy bombers differ from light bombers (such as the B-26 Marauder, Ju 88, A-26 Invader etc.) mostly due to their size and the number of bombs they carried. Once they had completed their mission, those fighters that remained would head back to friendly territory. Upon arriving, the bombers would target strategic targets such as factories, military bases, dams etc. These aircraft would then be escorted by hundreds of smaller, more nimble fighters, all headed for the enemy heartland. As a result, we tend to focus less on other types of aircraft such as those cumbersome bombers.ĭuring WWII, the role of a heavy bomber was simple: Carry as many bombs as physically possible. Generally this is because we tend to focus of the fast and nimble WWII fighters like the Yak-3, P-51, Bf 109, Spitfire and Hurricane. To many, even those familiar with the roles of aircraft in WWII, they may get confused by the concept of a “Heavy bomber”. The only real contender might be the British-made Avro Lancaster! Boeing B-17 vs B-29: What is a Heavy Bomber?īoth the B-17 and B-29 are a type of bomber called a “Heavy bomber”. You’d be hard pressed to find another WWII-era bomber that made a similar-sized impact on the aviation industry as either the B-17 or B-29. ![]() Whenever it comes to the best WWII aircraft, or those WWII aircraft that made a large impact, both the B-17 and B-29 are often featured on them! Since then, people have often wondered which aircraft was better! However, WWII saw both bombers be used on a mass scale, often alongside one another, often not. The B-29 was designed to be the replacement for the B-17. ![]() 3/1/2023 0 Comments Github openaudible![]() Not only can there be missing documentation for existing processes, there is pushback when it came to phasing out outdated processes and tooling. if it fails, you may have run out of devices that. Past the death zone, do you stay the night in a convenient cave as your Oxygen slips away? Or push through it and hope you can manage without rest as the night’s bitter cold chips away at you. What do you do? Looting gear is crucial to a successful climb. It might be tempting to stick to a path with a ton of stone, but there could be a loot event over on that dangerous ice path. You might have picked up a climbing pick and boots that reduce the energy cost of traversing stone. You really have to think about what you’re doing. But your success or failure will come down to your actions. The events are random, your rewards for the events are random, and the weather fluctuates. I love how from top to bottom the game entirely revolves around the choices you make, even though randomness is also a huge factor. Time doesn’t move unless your character is moving, so the game has an almost meditative and relaxing feel to it, in spite of the punishing difficulty. The game is purely about strategy, the kind you can mull over at your own pace. The core principles of the game’s design are fantastic. Just getting to the top of a mountain is only half the battle, you also have to get back down alive. The night is cold, and also impacts your visibility. But once that bar starts ticking you really have to choose what paths you take wisely, at least until you come back down. Up until that point, you can move a bit slower. Then you have Oxygen, once you breach the death zone at 6000 meters, the air becomes thin and hard to breathe. Energy is what you use to actually climb, and temperature is to keep yourself from freezing to death. Sanity constantly drops while you’re on the mountain, and traumatic events can impact it as well. But you will constantly get hit with bad events based on them. Your other stats, energy, sanity, temperature, and oxygen can go to zero, and you can survive for a time. Striking that balance leads to making agonizing decisions. ![]() So gathering useful gear, and leveling up is very helpful. You aren’t just preparing yourself for the climb you’re on, but the next one. You might be tempted to take the most direct path up a mountain, but that would be a mistake.Įach run consists of THREE separate mountains with the same character, and all your loot and skills carry over, but you will also obtain a scar between mountains, a permanent penalty for that run. Rougher terrain consumes more energy, but some tiles are dangerous and can trigger events that can hurt you. Three unique characters and multiple difficulties to choose from.Ī massive part of the game is simply figuring out where to move. Every bit of movement consumes time and energy based on the type of terrain, the conditions, and several other factors. You simply click a tile, and your character moves to it. The game is kind of turn-based, but not really since there are no enemies to take a turn. You choose one of three characters, each one starts with different equipment and abilities, then you choose one of three routes that dictate a set of random modifiers, such as rough terrain, or frequent storms, and you’re off. I make this comparison because actual board games can’t have bloat, because of the cost of producing physical pieces. There isn’t an ounce of bloat in this game, it’s clear that the developers had a vision and followed it with a laser focus. It’s what really sold me on its board game feel aside from its hexagonal-shaped tiles. Insurmountable has a clean-cut and straightforward approach to its concept. It just so happens that I’m as much an avid board gamer as I am a video gamer, and combining the two definitely hits one of my soft spots. ![]() This formula serves the game quite well if that’s what you’re into. Events are resolved via text-based choices, similar to drawing some kind of event card in many popular board games. The environments are nice, but the game isn’t flashy. A lot of the game is focused on text-based events. Insurmountable plays very much like a digital board game, and it’s best to approach it with that kind of mindset. I initially thought the game was going to play somewhat like Death Stranding, but I was way off the mark with that prediction. You can find a video version of this review on my YouTube Channel The game is about scaling mountains and the difficulty is based on keeping yourself alive against the elements, mitigating risks, and optimizing the path you climb. There is no combat, yet death follows you with every step. Insurmountable is one of the most unique rogue-lite games I’ve come across. ![]() 3/1/2023 0 Comments Reflector 3 mac crack![]() ![]() AdwCleaner 8.4.Tenorshare iCareFone Crack 8.5.6.12 + Serial Key Free Download.Follow the steps below to mirror your Mac to Reflector: Step 1.
